On the surface, Preciosa is a romantic fairy tale of a young gitana (gypsy), who’s acclaimed throughout Spain for her beauty, singing, and flamenco dancing. She’s romantically pursued by a mysterious poet and a young aristocrat. Yet, lurking beneath this pleasant facade, are inequalities perpetuated by class, prejudice, and race.

There’s an English and Spanish version. The English libbretto is by Elisa Cornish and the Spanish libretto is by Juan Carlos Uriszar. The original flamenco music compositions are works in progress.
