On the surface, Preciosa is a romantic fairy tale about a young gitana (gypsy), who’s acclaimed throughout Spain for her beauty, singing, and flamenco dancing. She’s romantically pursued by a mysterious poet and young aristocrat. Yet, lurking beneath this pleasant facade are inequalities perpetuated by class, prejudice, and race.

There’s an English and Spanish version. The English book is written by Elisa Cornish, and the Spanish book is written by Juan Carlos Uriszar.  The lyrics and original flamenco music compositions are written by Latin Grammy nominee, Debé Gunn.
